AC Milan confirm Fonseca’s departure
AC Milan confirmed this morning the sacking of head coach Paulo Fonseca after six months in charge.
The Portuguese claimed he was sacked when he left San Siro following Sunday night’s 1-1 draw with Roma, and the club’s official announcement came hours later.
Milan is expected to name Sergio Conceicao as his successor.

A club statement said: “AC Milan announces that Paulo Fonseca has been relieved of his duties as head coach of the men’s first team. The club thanks Paulo for his great professionalism and wishes him all the best in his future endeavors.”
The weekend’s stalemate leaves the Rossoneri eighth in the Serie A table, 14 points behind joint leaders Atalanta and Napoli.
Fonseca coached Milan for a total of 24 games and won only 12. The highlight was a 3-1 win at Real Madrid in the Champions League.
Conceicao has extensive experience in Serie A, having played for Lazio, Parma and Inter. He resigned as Porto coach in June.
