“Reacher” is back and season 3 is the best thing the show has ever been. The story of walking, the speaking tank with hands that are as big as dinner plates and solves crimes is one of the purest shows in recent years that is quite simple in his power fantasy and at the same time maintains an exquisite execution. “Reacher” is as exciting as it is funny and as ridiculous as fun. This is the tense season of the show so far, with the small size and use of a single place that gives history high stakes and a greater feeling of danger – not only for the character, but for the man who plays it, Alan Ritchson.
During an interview with Jacob Hall from /Film, Ritchson spoke about a scene in the first episode of season 3, in which REACHER climbs the house in a long crane shot, a stunt that made him bleed “everywhere”:
“I did a rusty nail or something and have left this guy all over the house everywhere in the house and I had to do it eight times eight times. And how ‘can you stop getting blood because it shows … Blood hand deductions and we have to wipe it off: ‘And I said:’ People, I don’t know, and this is your fault because there is a razor-sharp brand or something.
REACHER is not only big, he’s funny
It is a real pleasure to see “Reacher” from his element this season. Here, a large shark of a man who is trapped in a small pond is theoretically unable to take a step, but not to be able not to kill every villain that he encounters in practice. The scene mentioned above is great for two reasons. First of all, it is an impressive stunt that climbing Ritchson’s hulcing physique down the manor house as if he were King Kong in State Building in Empire State. The most important thing is that the scene is absolutely funny. “Reaker” is not a comedy, nor is it exactly, but it is sardonically in his humor, and Alan Ritchson is great in walking a certain line in which REACHER is funny without having the joke complete. And of course the sight of a man who tries to scale the side of a manor house for his weight and muscle mass is only a funny sight inherently. Reach may be an American Hercules, but he is also a big fun boy.
