Rabat – The national office for electricity and drinking water (OneE) started the first phase of a key project Drink Water supply in several provinces.
The project covers the Mkanssa community in the Taounat province as well as neighboring areas in Sidi Kacem and Moulay Yaacoub.
With 41 million Moroccan dirhams, the initiative aims to improve the access of the region to clean water through production facilities that come from the Al Wahda dam.
The first phase of the project financed by someone with a loan from the German Development Bank (Kreditanstalt für Wiedenaulau/KfW) and costs 24 mdh.
It includes the installation of 28.5 kilometers of pipelines with diameters of 300 to 400 mm to connect the production systems with the local communities.
The second phase that has been completed by December 2025 includes the construction of a 500 m³ Water Reservoir and a pumping station that can pump 45 liters per second.
This project is part of the national drinking water supply program and irrigation program (PNAEPI) 2020-2027, which was officially launched in January 2020 under the guidance of its majesty king Mohammed VI.
The aim of the program is to ensure the continuous and safe water supply of the municipalities of Mkanssa, El Ghouazi and Beni Snous in Taounate.
In addition, the municipalities of Mrabih and Selfat in Sidi Kacem and SBBT Loudaya will benefit in Moulay Yaâcoub, who supply a total of over 72,000 people.
The project is expected to significantly improve the living conditions of the local population and contribute to the socio -economic development of the region.
