According to the studio, players invested 8.34 billion hours in Blizzard titles in 2024

Blizzard This week it released its annual review, revealing details about how players engaged with its titles in 2024. To this end, it published several statistics about players’ achievements in its various games, including World of Warcraft, Diablo and Overwatch. According to the studio, players invested a total of around 8.34 billion hours of time in its games – or around 952,000 years.

Some of the stats are a bit silly, like the one showing that Overwatch 2 players spent over 203 years using the game’s new clash maps, or that Diablo IV recorded 480 million player deaths. The studio also reveals more sober statistics, such as the aforementioned playtime, as well as the $12.3 million it donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation from the proceeds from sales of the “Pink Mercy” skin in Overwatch 2.

Given that it’s been a difficult year for live service titles, Blizzard’s continued interest in its own live service games is notable. In 2024, the closure of titles such as Concord, XDefiant, Foamstars and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League was announced. But Blizzard’s titles seem to capture players’ attention consistently enough to post such high stats.

Johanna Faries, president of Blizzard, said in a statement: “2024 was also a big year for Blizzard releases, including the multi-expansion World of Warcraft story arc, the Worldsoul Saga, with the release of The War Within, followed by a truly amazing anniversary celebration.” spanned the entire Warcraft universe, including WoW Modern and Classic, Hearthstone and Warcraft Rumble… Earlier this year we were overjoyed Bringing Blizzard games back to mainland China in collaboration with NetEase. We’re excited to once again serve our players in China and successfully welcome so many in the region to World of Warcraft and Hearthstone.”
