US President-elect Donald Trump has scuttled bipartisan efforts to avert a government shutdown after rejecting a stopgap bill and urging Republican lawmakers to either renegotiate it or risk their political careers. The new bill would have kept federal funding at current levels through March, after the current short-term spending plan expires Friday evening. In addition, the ongoing political crisis in Georgia is weighing on the country’s economy, especially tourism.
