I just read an excellent book The Beck diet solution by Dr. Judith Beck. I was looking for a book in which cognitive behavioral therapy was applied to weight loss, and I started looking at Amazon in a search. CBT is excellent to improve negative thought patterns that influence our behavior. I personally notice negative thoughts that lead to bad eating habits, especially to snacking (like when the small voice whispers the temptation: “What could hurt once?”) And I thought that others could also help and CBT could help. It turns out that Dr. Beck’s father was a CBT pioneer and, in this sense, she is familiar with and is excellently qualified to write this book.

I avoided avoiding meals between meals and unplanned food for meals, my two storms. I had to shorten it in the first few weeks, but after that it was made easier due to the use of techniques from this book. For clarification, Dr. Beck “diet” in the sense of a healthy way of eating, not in the waste diet. Each chapter of the book contains a section “What do you think”, what Dr. Beck refers to “sabotage thoughts” and how to react to it. Very helpful.

The most inspiring part of the book was when she described that she had to bring her little son to ketogenic diet as a treatment for epilepsy. Keto has a good success for this purpose, but this is an extreme diet to record a young child. Fortunately, it worked for epilepsy, but he had to endure it for six years! Stand the required discipline, no delicacies, no snacks between meals and a strict diet for meal and school and watch how you indulge in the things you cannot have. He just learned to say and continue “oh na” as a temptation. If a child can show such great willpower, I can say “well” and say no to snacks.
