Rabat – The Moroccan Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation and Huawei Morocco signed a new partnership agreement in Marrakech on the edge of Gitex Africa 2025.
The agreement is intended to modernize university formation, strengthen digital skills and to improve the national technology infrastructure. The aim is to make the digital sector a powerful tool for inclusion, competitiveness and cooperation.
At the signing ceremony, Azzedine el Midaoui, Minister of Higher Education, and David Li, CEO from Huawei Morocco. Shen Li, President of Huawei’s northern Africa, took part in the event together with other respected guests.
The partnership reflects a common commitment to prepare Moroccan young people for the digital future, said Huawei in a press release. It added that the partnership is a strong example of the cooperation between public and private sectors to increase development and innovation in the country.
The new agreement focuses on the training of university professors and the regular update of educational content in order to reflect the latest technological advances. The aim is also to build stronger connections between Moroccan researchers and the international research centers of Huawei and to offer the doctoral students the opportunity to learn and work together worldwide.
Innovation is another important part of the partnership with plans to support the entrepreneurship of students and promote new digital projects. In addition, the agreement emphasizes the importance of bridging the gap between universities and the labor market to help students switch more smoothly to employment.
David Li welcomed this new phase of cooperation and said that it was a “result of mutual trust and the cooperation between our service and Huawei”.
“It is a big step in our growing partnership. This new phase of our partnership reflects our commitment to support the training of the technical technology leaders,” he added.
The explanation found that the new agreement is based on a successful partnership that began in 2021.
Since then, the Ministry and Huawei have trained over 16,000 students, awarded 1,400 HCIA certifications, organized 100 webinars and included almost 5,000 students in national ICT competitions. The ICT job fair alone contributed to generating 1,800 employment opportunities for young people.
