Rabat-Moroccans mourn the heartbreaking death of a young 9-year-old girl who was swept away yesterday by strong floods that Berkane occurred together with other eastern Moroccan provinces.
Several regions met strong rainfall and disturbed the movement of residents and vehicles.
The young girl, Youssra and her father, fell into a wastewater pit in one of the villages after being swept by the floods, as convergent reports stated.
Rescue teams were able to save the father, but the girl was tragically missed.
It was only that night that citizens and rescue operators restored the young girl’s body.
Many went on social media and broadcast messages to the child’s family.
Moroccan users across the country and companies shared Yousra’s heartbreaking history.
The family of the little girl, including her father, her mother and her little sister, were outside during the turbulent weather because you picked up Yousra from her extra -curricular activities shortly before sunset to celebrate a Ramadan tour.
The mother wore the little sister on her back and managed to cross the street, but Youssra and her father were swept away.
Some citizens gave the father a hand and helped him to oppose the floods, but Yousra fell into the pit.
Public outcry with infrastructure gliders
Many common concerns about the infrastructure situation in the region condemned the fact that only 20 minutes of precipitation were “enough to sweep a girl into a sewing pit”.
“The city is talking, but the security conditions are missing” said On his Facebook.
Many have requested an investigation to blame everyone.
“Berkane’s crime should be a lesson for all people who have failed in theirs,” wrote another citizen online.
Others have asked the lawyers to adopt the case and submit a lawsuit to determine that this should not be treated as a “normal incident”.

Yousra’s death is reminiscent of a similar scenario that made international headlines in 2022 as a 5-year-old boy, RayaneWas caught in a fountain near Chefchaouen in Northern Morocco.
