Rabat – Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, the Moroccan Minister for Youth, Culture and Communication, led the appointment of the new members of the Committee on Film Production on Friday.
The main goal of the committee is to improve the quality of domestic productions and increase the international visibility of the Moroccan cinema.
This will help promote Moroccan culture, identity and heir at international events and to open up new markets for Moroccan films, especially in Asia and countries with significant Moroccan communities, said the Ministry of Culture in a press release.
Abdelaciz El Boujdaini, General Secretary of the Communication Sector and reigning director of the Moroccan, took part in the event Filmographic Center.
During the meeting, Bensaid recalled the efforts of his ministry to work with the Moroccan cinematographic center in order to promote and develop the country’s film industry.
He explained that the goal was to strengthen the film industry in order to achieve Morocco’s goals by implementing the rules of law No. 18.23 for the film industry and reorganized the Moroccan cinema dography center, which will begin in October 2025.
The minister found the need for a new vision that promotes national investments and opens up the opportunities for foreign specialist knowledge in this area both in professional practice and in the promotion of common national and international productions.
He said it was important to create a positive environment for both Moroccan and foreign technicians. It would help to build a sustainable economic model, to create employment opportunities and contribute to the economic and social development of Morocco.
The film production committee consists of 11 members, including Amine Nassour as President and two representatives of the Ministry of Culture, one in the communication sector and the other in the cultural sector.
Other members are Bissan Khayrat, Karim Douichi, Bouchra Mazia, Mohamed Saoudi, Fouad Challa, Wijdane Khalid and Sidi Mohamed El Idrissi.
