Rabat – Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch headed a meeting in Rabat on Thursday to monitor them Progress From stadium projects for the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 (AFCON) and the FIFA World Cup 2030.
The meeting took part in the Minister of Economics and Financing Nadia Fettah, Minister of Education Mohamed Saad Barada and Minister delegate for the Fouzi Lekjaa household.
During the session, the committee checked the renovation progress of the nine stadiums that AFCON 2025 were supposed to organize. The projects remain on schedule, whereby all venues between March and August 2025 are expected to be fully functional.
The committee also evaluated the construction of the Hassan II stadium in Bensliman, which is built for compliance with the FIFA standards. The stadium is expected to be completed by December 2027 to prepare for the 2030 World Cup, which Morocco will organize together with Spain and Portugal.
Akhannouch confirmed the government’s commitment to the development of the sports infrastructure for the sports infrastructure and explained that Morocco is ensured all the necessary conditions to successfully organize both tournaments, according to the high guidelines of King Mohammed VI.
The Grand Stade Hassan II in Casablanca will be under construction, which becomes one of the largest football stadiums in the world. The stadium is strategically located between Casablanca and Rabat in a newly developed area, which is connected by a continental highway and a planned high-speed rail connection.
