You can finally migrate purchases from one Apple account to another

While many of us have to manage only one Apple account, many other two have two and both use them with their Apple devices. I know someone who once created an Apple account with an email address connected by employers and at some point created a second account with their personal ID. Now use two accounts on your devices, one with iCloud and Apple Music and the other for all other apps.

If you had Apple devices for a long time, you may have two Apple accounts. Nevertheless, Apple did not allow users to bring purchases together to an account. So if you want to access purchases on an old Apple account, you had to register for it even though you use a newer account for everything else.

For people who are in such situations, Apple finally has a solution– Immigration of purchases from one account to another. It’s not necessarily easy, but it is feasible.

Understand the associated risks

On the surface, it may be a simple process to migrate your purchases from one Apple account to another, but it seems quite difficult in the backend. This is probably the reason why Apple took so long to make this function available. Data migration is complicated. I remember when the people of the iTunes libraries were damaged when Apple Music started And not everyone found a functioning solution. So I think it is best to take migrating purchases slowly and steadily.

It is also worth noting that your secondary Apple account can no longer make purchases after completing migration so that you cannot download any apps from the App Store. I also do not recommend going through this process if you test beta tests many apps via test flight. If you agree to the removal of your device from all these betas, you can migrate the purchases. This process is also not available in three main regions – the EU, the United Kingdom and India. Apple has not mentioned why this is the case, but it could be due to local regulations on payments and data.

Check if you can migrate the purchases

In order to successfully migrate your purchases to another Apple account, the company must meet the following conditions:

  • The primary Apple account should be linked to iCloud and most functions. This is the account on which all your purchases are standardized.

  • The secondary Apple account should only be used for media and purchases. This account cannot make purchases after the migration has been completed.

  • You should know the E -Mail address, phone numbers and passwords for both accounts.

  • Your Apple accounts should not be shared to another person.

  • Your Apple accounts should not be created as a children’s account by releasing the family.

  • If the primary Apple account has never been used for purchases or free downloads, it cannot be used to migrate purchases.

  • Migration cannot be carried out if both accounts are assigned to music library data.

  • The Apple account should not be blocked or deactivated. It should also not be part of special access programs for apps for content (e.g. linked to an employer in order to receive special access to apps).

  • The secondary Apple account should not be used to test beta versions via test flight. Stop testing all apps before trying migration.

So you migrate purchases from one Apple account to another

Before you can migrate purchases, you have to do the following:

  • Update the latest version of iOS or iPados on your iPhone or iPad.

  • Make sure you are registered in your primary account on your device and your secondary Apple account for media and purchases. To check this, go to Settings> Your name> Media & purchases> Show account. If you see another Apple account in your primary Apple account here, you are all defined. If not, you can register and register for the right account.

  • Make sure that the secondary account is not part of a family release group.

  • Check whether both accounts are set to the same country and the same region.

  • Activate the two-factor authentication on both accounts.

  • If you have the non -used Apple account account in the secondary account, spend everything before starting migrating.

  • Wait until rental content runs before you start with this process.

  • If you have pre -ordered content in the secondary account, you can either wait for the orders to be completed or cancel.

  • Make sure that the payment method linked to the secondary account works and keep all the details at hand. You have to check a payment from the secondary account before this process goes through.

If all of this is confirmed, you can take these steps to start the process:

  1. They go to your iPhone or iPad Settings> Your name> Media & purchases> Show account.

  2. Log in to the account if you are asked, scroll down and select Migrate purchases.

  3. Check the information about both accounts and follow the input requests on the screen to complete the migrating purchases to the primary account.

  4. As soon as the process has been completed, a message is displayed on the screen in which “purchases have been migrated”. You will also receive e -mails that confirm this in both E -Mail addresses.

  5. Check your media and purchase settings and register here with your primary Apple account.

  6. You can now unsubscribe to all Apple devices from the secondary -Apple account.

The migration process can only be carried out once in one account. Apple allows you to undo a account mediation Follow the same steps, but you cannot migrate purchases again for a year.
