According to the organization of economic cooperation and development, inflation in the OECD area remained stable in December 2024. Stability that contrast the developments depending on the country.
Inflation has increased significantly in Japan and has reached 3.6 %, its highest level since January 2023, while it fell from 2.7 percentage points in Torkiye. At the same time, the energy inflation recorded a significant increase, which was compensated for by a slight decline in the underlying inflation (with the exception of power and energy).
In the G7, the annual inflation rose in the third time in a row and reached 2.8 %with significant acceleration in Germany and the United States.
Within the G20, inflation fell to 5.1 %in December, its lowest level since 2021 with a significant decline in Argentina, but still very high prices. In China, inflation remained close to zero at 0.1 %.
Despite a global decline compared to 2023, inflation in the OECD zone remains twice as high in 2019 and illustrates an economic context that is always under tension.
