The first edition of the Water4Future hackathon began at Cadi Ayyad University in Marrakech, bringing together students looking for innovative solutions for sustainable water management. This event is organized in collaboration with the UNESCO International Water Center in Montpellier and focuses on the theme “Water and Agriculture”.
At the opening, the university’s president, Belaid Bougadir, emphasized the urgency of rethinking water management in the face of climatic and demographic challenges. He also announced the launch of new training courses and the restructuring of the National Water and Energy Center to strengthen research and innovation.
For two days, the participants will work in teams to design concrete projects taking ecological and technological issues into account. The aim is to develop effective solutions to improve water use in agriculture, a key sector but vulnerable to climate change.
This hackathon also offers students the opportunity to interact with experts and develop their spirit of initiative. By fostering collaborative innovation, this initiative is fully part of the national dynamic to conserve water resources and food security.
