Marrakech police forces, in collaboration with those of Safi, foiled an attempt at international trafficking of 9.8 tons of chira in Kouzemt-Imintanoute on Tuesday, thanks to information from the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST).
Six people, including a police officer and a former elected official, were arrested for their roles in this criminal network. The suspects, aged between 29 and 59, were arrested while preparing a maritime trafficking operation.
The seizure included 9.8 tons of Chira, a commercial vehicle with a false license plate, an inflatable boat and a ship engine. In addition, the people were taken into police custody to enable investigations into possible accomplices.
