I think it goes without saying that the “superhero sex comedy” genre, or as I like to call it, the “action porn” genre, belongs to a niche audience, and for good reason. But you have to give credit to young Trey Parker and Matt Stone for trying to put their stamp on this strangely specific genre with 1997’s orgasmwhich had recently made its limited theatrical rounds South Park became the intellectual property they are best known for. This is Parker’s second feature-length directorial effort. Orgasms The production value is leagues ahead of his first film. Cannibal! the musical, But orgasm was always destined to become a cult classic, difficult to track down due to its controversial subject matter and execution through streaming.
At least at the time of Orgasms I have never seen a film with an NC-17 rating that wasn’t hidden behind a beaded curtain in the video store just to make it available to the most deviant of film watchers. Ironically, Parker and Stone were extremely clever with their self-censorship, which made the film fairly harmless by today’s standards. However, the rating was justified by the MPAA based on the use of sexually suggestive props orgasm contains less nudity than 2016 Dead Pool if my calculations are correct.
Innocent Mormon turned porn star
orgasm doesn’t tell a complex story, but its premise is unique in that there aren’t many films that start with an innocent missionary with intimidating martial arts skills who is recruited by a sleazy sleazy film kingpin portraying a pornographic superhero, leading to a kidnapping, gang violence, blackmail, and an actual ray gun that subjugates her subjects by stimulating them to the point of how shall I put this…extreme arousal and release.
Trey Parker’s Joe Young is a happily naive young man who has his whole life ahead of him and doesn’t want to get into trouble when he agrees to work for Maxxx Orbison (Michael Dean Jacobs), in which he plays the fictional crimefighter- Gigolo named Orgazmo portrayed. but agrees to star in his film because he wants to give his fiancée Lisa (Robyn Lynn Raab) her dream wedding. Despite his beliefs, Joe accepts the job and quickly signs a contract, but on the condition that a stunt double act in his place for the raunchy scenes, which ethically allows him to star in such a dirty film.
The downside of success
Believing that his portrayal of Orgazmo will only be a one-off appearance that will earn him a life-changing amount of money, Joe is given a permanent contract with Maxxx after the film becomes a huge success. In contrast to his co-star, who plays Orgazmo’s buddy Choda Boy, Ben Chapelski (Dian Bachar from BASEketball And Electric Apricot Joe wants to get out of the industry, but is forced to do so by Maxxx, who sees the world through the lens of greed. Luckily, Ben only dabbles in pornography because he likes the excitement, and reveals to Joe that he is an MIT graduate who actually developed a real version of Orgazmo’s weapon, the Orgazmorator.
Equipped with his new weapon of mass arousal, Joe and Ben learn just how deep Maxxx Orbison’s corruption runs when Lisa is kidnapped when Joe refuses to fulfill his contract. It’s up to Joe and Ben to take out Maxxx and save Lisa while Dave the photographer (Matt Stone) is blissfully unaware of his surroundings despite the obvious tension on set. Now they run through the evil streets of Los Angeles as real-life Orgazmo and Choda Boy and must take down Maxxx and his evil henchman A-Cup (David Dunn) and save the city from certain doom.
Should be R-rated
orgasm‘S The NC-17 rating seems a bit harsh looking back at the film, but I can understand why the censors wanted to play it safe with this film. Back then, Trey Parker and Matt Stone didn’t have nearly as much appeal or resources as they do today, and sometimes you have to put yourself out there trying to break into the film industry.
But I will say this: Her self-censorship adds a whole layer more comedy to the whole thing orgasm this increases the humor to the point of absurdity. Whenever a mistress lifts her shirt to film a scene on Maxxx’s stage, there’s never a full reveal, but rather a man’s bare bottom doing the shooting, which is still somewhat risky but much safer than full frontal Nudity. Say what you want about the T-Rex love sequence. I’ll leave this to your imagination if you’ve never had the pleasure of looking at them orgasmBut you still see provocative facial expressions.
At the time of this writing orgasm is not available for Streamingbut I recently saw it making its rounds on Tubi before it was removed from the platform. For now you can watch orgasm on demand Amazon Prime Video, Google Play Movies, Apple TV+And Fandango at home.
