AGDQ just ended, but there is already a schedule for Frost Fatales and that’s true
Awesome Games Done Quick is already ready for 2025 (with a cool collected for the Prevent Cancer Foundation), but the philanthropic group also runs other programs throughout the year that raise money for charities. Two of them are organized by the Frame Fatales, a community for women and femmes in speedrunning under the umbrella of the GDQ. The group’s Frost Fatales event will take place March 9-16 and will raise money for the event . The was just released today and here are a few of the highlights.
The event starts with two of my personal favorite games: the tough 2D platformer Cup head followed by the Wahoos of Super Mario Odyssey. I’m also amused that Lanaruse will be running Coffee caravanbut with the category “Any% No Coffee.” The show kicks off on March 13th at 1:00 p.m. ET. The lineup looks particularly exciting on March 14th, with Jaypeg competing Snufkin: Melody of MoominvalleyGretaIceVixen and Corvimae show off Pokémon Sword & Shieldand Bloupeuh plays Undertale Yellow. Frost Fatales is close to completion when SawaYoshi nails a one-handed run of Celestewhich sounds like a mandatory visit.
And if you can’t wait until March to see some great gamer philanthropy, be sure to tune in to Back to Black, the GDQ event highlighting Black speedrunners. This year the showcase will raise money a racial justice nonprofit, February 6-9.
It’s only a few days long, but Back to Black has a lot of great talent on the roster. Bobbeigh is running anyone Castlevania Play is a must and he will play Rondo of Blood on February 6 at 7:08 p.m. ET. Super Smash Bros. pro and speedrunner Ryan Ford is on the program twice, with The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening DX on February 8th at 4:05 pm ET and Great Metroid on February 9 at 8:04 p.m. ET. Check out the full Back to Black schedule including games, participants and hosts .
