Brooke Shields shares details of her divorce from Andre Agassi

Brooke Shields is releasing a new book today in which the former model talks about her divorce from the tennis star Andre Agassi.

In her new memoir: “Brooke Shields Mustn’t Grow Old: Thoughts on Aging as a Woman“, the 59-year-old mother of two revealed what Agassi said to her during her divorce that made her happy that they didn’t have children together.

Shields has two daughters — Grier, 18, and 21-year-old Rowan — with her now husband, the director of “Land of the Lost.” Chris Henchy.

Shields and Agassi were married from 1997 to 1999, and the former “Pretty Baby” actress credits the tennis champion with helping her separate from her manager mother, Teri, it is reported AARP Magazine.

The “Endless Love” star was oversexualized as a child actress and model and initially found Agassi’s fame comforting since she was no longer the center of media attention.

“It was a transition that I needed,” she remembers. “I wasn’t strong enough to separate from my mother on my own. I kept falling back. With Andre it also felt good to feel smaller than someone else because he was so famous and number 1 in the world.”

“Everywhere we went he had lots of bodyguards,” she continued. “I could sit back because it wasn’t my world. He was the first to get out of the car when we arrived at events. It was a real recovery.”

In her new book, Brooke Shields Is Not Allowed to Get Old, the actress noted that she was “glad” she and Agassi never had children together because of something he said during their breakup.

“Be thankful we didn’t have children,” he said, “because I wouldn’t have made it easy for you.”…It would have been a disaster when we divorced, he made that very clear,” wrote Shields PEOPLE.

The Blue Lagoon actress also revealed a conversation she had with Agassi about weight gain.

“When I confessed my insecurities to my first husband, he would always say, ‘I wish you could see yourself the way I see you,'” she wrote. “However, when I said, ‘Will you still love me when I’m big and fat?’ (I meant when I got pregnant – an unfair question for anyone to ask another person I know!) I never expected his answer.”

Shields added that Agassi told her, “‘I love you too much to let you get big and fat!'” I definitely didn’t see that coming and have to admit I was a little reeling, but we everyone knows how this relationship developed.

As already reported by The explosionShields underwent labia reduction surgery due to the pain she suffered during training and during “romantic moments.”

After the surgery, her doctor informed her that he had performed unwanted vaginal rejuvenation on Shields.

“When it was over, the doctor told me how it went,” she wrote. “‘I was very detailed,” he said, to my relief and excitement. And then, “I was in there for four hours, and you know what I did? I tightened you up a little! Gave you a little rejuvenation!”‘”

Shields was overwhelmed by the news, writing: “Wait, what?? I was shocked and speechless. I don’t remember how I reacted or if I even said anything. Should I say thank you?”

Although her doctor thought she would be happy with the procedure, Shields said she was “angry.”

“This man surgically altered my body without my consent,” she noted. “And he thought he had done me a favor by starting a ‘bonus procedure’?” The sheer impudence made me angry.”

“The fact that the most intimate parts of my body have been in the public eye for so long… was enough,” she wrote. “All I could think was, ‘Why can’t everyone just leave my V-Gina alone?’ (Even now, as I write this, I know this will be the part that makes headlines. Whatever. Women deserve all the information.)”

Shields shared that she never spoke to the doctor who performed the unwanted procedure again because she was unsure.

“I never took action against this doctor,” she wrote. “I never spoke to him about it again, partly because I started asking myself questions.”

She continued: “I wonder if he was right and if I should be lucky. Or perhaps, I thought, this was a necessary improvement for my husband, who was secretly dissatisfied but would never have dared to broach the subject of my ‘loose down’. There is?’ It’s crazy to me that these ideas even occurred to me.

The Mother of the Bride star also noted that she didn’t speak out at the time because she didn’t want to be in the headlines. However, if it happened to her today, “I would make my own headline and spread it everywhere.”
