Arabic theater: The Moroccan plays “Hom” in the competition in Muscat
The play “Hom” (You), performed by the Moroccan troupe Anfass, will represent Morocco during the 15th edition of the Arab Theater Festival, which will take place from January 9th to 15th in Muscat. This prestigious cultural event brings together 15 theatrical performances selected from 175 proposals submitted to the festival’s scientific committee.
The Moroccan play competes in the main category for the Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi Prize, a major award for the best Arab theater work. Participants include iconic pieces such as “The Legend of the Frankincense Tree” (Oman), “Al-Bukhara” (Tunisia) and “Macbeth” (Egypt).
On the sidelines of the performances, the festival will recognize the winners of the Arab Competition for Scientific Theater Research, including Zahra Ibrahim and Hussein Al Rahawi, both Moroccans, who were recognized for their notable contributions.
In addition to performances, the festival offers symposiums, workshops and symposiums on innovative topics such as “Theater and Artificial Intelligence” as well as theater publications in the Sultanate of Oman. This annual gathering has become an unmissable event for Arab theater professionals, promoting cultural exchange and the influence of this ancient art.
