The number of companies created in the Oriental region in the first ten months of 2024 amounts to 4,588, according to the Moroccan Office of Industrial and Commercial Property (OMPIC).
According to the same source, these company start-ups are divided between legal entities (1,921) and natural persons (2,667).
The province of Nador leads the way with 2,148 new companies, followed by Oujda (1,270), Berkane (609), Guercif (178), Driouch (157), Taourirt (155) and Bouafra (71).
By sector of activity, trade accounts for the lion’s share with 47.66% of the companies founded, followed by construction and real estate activities (15.67%), various services (14.80%), transport (6.69%), industry (5th). .86%), hotels and restaurants (4.81%), financial activities (2.23%), agriculture and fishing (1.31%) and ICT (0.96%).
In terms of legal form, 60.9% of the companies created are sole proprietorships with limited liability (SARL-AU), followed by SARLs with 38.8%, branches (0.2%) and limited liability companies and other forms (0, 1%).
At the national level, 78,244 companies were created at the end of October last year, including 56,292 legal entities and 21,952 natural persons.
By region, Casablanca-Settat dominates the ranking with 24,571 companies founded at the end of October 2024, ahead of Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima (11,328), Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (9,121), Marrakesh-Safi (8,875), Fès-Meknes (5,409), Souss-Massa (5,323), the Oriental (4,588), Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra (3,083), Béni Mellal-Khénifra (2,238), Drâa-Tafilalet (1,766), Dakhla-Oued Ed-Dahab (1,308) and Guelmim-Oued Noun (634).
