4 training strategies for busy parents

4 training strategies for busy parents

I got this message the other week and it felt like this. Damned. Assignable.

… the biggest challenge is currently that I am a full -time professional mother of two boys and I am only so damn exhausted.
I am currently on a hamster wheel of life and give myself to everyone and everything around me.

It is not just that it is difficult to find the time to train … it is difficult to find the energy.

It is also difficult to create a routine that I can stay with, one that I can only do without thought, given all variables in my life. “

The parents of young children are a particularly challenging time. There is a lot of variability in your routine, high demand for time and attention and not much energy to save.

Regardless of whether you are a parent, a caretaker or just go through an incredibly busy lifetime when you try to give a fitness routine over everything else, like the Jim Gaffigan joke can feel: “You know what it is like to have five children? Imagine drowning them. And then someone gives them a baby.”

We constantly hear this feeling with customers in our coaching program.

Therefore, today I would like to carry you out exactly as I help you to navigate this intensive time while I still find time to work on your health and fitness in a way that feels sustainable for you.

And when I record the “Matt in front of a white board in his office and a video” I have a Daes video with notes so that you can digest this in any format what is best suited for you. ❤️ (Bonus points for everyone who recognizes where my T-shirt comes from!)))

And if you are someone who has difficulty being consistent with your workouts, respond to this e -mail! I would like to see how I can help. 💪

The most important challenges

If you tell me that you are a parent, I can immediately predict a few things:

  • Very variable schedule
  • High requirements on time and attention
  • Lack of predictable routine.
  • (Period) low energy

I still remember with Mike (moderator of The hunting -scabch -podcast), and as he kept saying: “This week is crazy, but next week things will finally be normal again.”

After a few weeks I stopped him and something in the way: “I think unpredictability is the only predictable thing.”

Our mantra was “there is none Normal”, And that was the key to his success to get 148 workouts this year (and count!)

The strategies

Selection mode

If we know every day that it is very variable, our plan must take this into account.

First create a short and simple body weight training that you can carry out in 5-15 minutes. ((As if it were going to do 1 round of this training.) It will be an important piece of the puzzle that you can fit into a crazy day.

When I worked at Force Fitness, I remember that after a long night I got in with the children and felt absolutely dead for the world. On these days, My boss And I would look at each other and say: “Turkish increases And Farmer wears? “Two movements to build us up for a few minutes and pay ourselves to the day.

accumulation

Workouts do not have to take place at once. You can divide the training into mini sessions during the day or the week!

The more important factor is to do the work, not in timing. 💪

This is exactly the strategy that I use with new parents. We write down a list of exercises and a targeted number of repetitions that can be carried out over the week. Then press them as possible. If you want an example of what it looks like, shoot me and send an e -mail and I would like to share some!

Time

Sometimes it is really important to try to get time in your schedule to just concentrate on you. This can mean asking a partner for help or making difficult decisions about compromises. It is not always possible, but it’s still worth it.

We did that with my customer Michelle. It was difficult for her to adapt the training, so we went through some compromises that she could make. She asked her partner for support and was able to get out 20 minutes after work. She parked outside and trained in the garage. She was not at home until she walked through the garage door.

I’m going to go

If you can’t beat you, join you! Invite the children to participate with them.

Switch your focus on more skills or play -based training courses that may be more committed to you. Instead of optimizing for “results”, optimize it for fun and connection.

This is the option that was most meaningful in my own life. Part of me big why Connects with others and modeled healthy behaviors for my own children. While I still like to train alone, the trip has all the more worthwhile to find. ❤️

To play more ideas that you can introduce to your children take a look at This article And This article.

Would you like to try parkour (in a safe and effective way?) I have you! 🙌

And there you have it! If you were my customer, I would lead you through these similar steps

  1. We would represent your current schedule and the very real challenges.
  2. We would find out which strategy fits you best.
  3. Then I write workouts and responsible to take thinking of your plate and help you stay on the right track. 💪

Regardless of whether you are a busy parent or just someone who is going through a hectic time in life, try these strategies and let me know how to do it!
