3 things we have learned in 8 years of coaching

Note: Make sure you read an important update via Nerd Fitness Coaching until the end!

In the past 8 years we have had thousands of conversations with customers, rebels and community members.

We carried out surveys, read answers and listen closely to what people have to fight with.

Again and again there were variations of three statements.

  • “Just tell me what to do.”
  • “I have to see signs of progress.”
  • “I can’t stay motivated.”

Each of them reveals an underlying danger in which I see that people fall and I want to help them make the same mistakes!

“Just tell me what to do.”

Case trick: excessive restrictive plans that let you burn out

Need: Clarity that fits your life

People with whom I speak feel overwhelmed and overloaded.

You already have a ton on your plate with work, family and other responsibilities.

No wonder that there is a strong wish that someone simply simplifies things!

But it falls back when it leads to plans that do not fit their lives well.

Exercises that are not the right level, restrictive menu and schedules that assume that they have all the time and energy in the world, they only burn out and left behind.

We have learned to emphasize Fit and flexibility First.

In this way you get clarity in the next steps and at the same time ensure that there is enough flexibility to do it well for you. ❤️

“I have to see signs of progress.”

Fallstrick: Jump from one program to the next

Need: Several levels of feedback loops

Change is difficult.

And it is even more difficult if it feels like they’re going to turn their bikes and don’t get there anywhere! I bet many of us started a new training or a new nutritional program just to step on the scale or to look in the mirror and feel empty and how nothing happens.

This can lead to a program – jump from one thing to another, it is difficult to evaluate their effectiveness so quickly.

Fitness is like investing: the biggest returns take time!

So it is how we do it: we both pursue Effort and results.

  • effort: Workouts completed, habits practiced, consistency
  • Results: Power gains, body composition, easier through your day, sleep quality, energy levels, etc.

Victories in consistency are one early Form of progress. You are the first step to evaluate whether a program suits you well.

Results in the results come later, but are still important to take into account if changes are assessed that must be made.

Some tools that we would be happy to reach at any time:

  • Glass from Awesome (Effort): Every time you make a choice, add a marble (or a note) to the glass. Watch the victories stack.
  • Enlarge meetings (Results): Place a rhythm (we recommend every 2-6 weeks) to evaluate your progress. This prevents them from adapting things too quickly and at the same time giving clear check-in points to make changes.

If you have feedback loops in each of these areas, it will be easier, self -confident and patient. 🙌

“I can’t stay motivated.”

Cascal: All-OR or NOT LEABLE

Need: Systems that support consistency

This is the big one. Life becomes chaotic. People get sick, work runs too late, chaos happens.

It is easy to stand out from the course and to accuse ourselves and our lack of motivation to ensure that we cannot look through things.

This leads to much all-or-not thinking.

Either we are all in (and things are going great!), Or we are cut off from the course and have trouble getting back on the right track.

How to avoid this pitfall:

The more you practice implementing these systems, the easier it will be to maintain the dynamics. 💪

Fast checklist

If you look at your own plan, ask yourself:

1. Is there clarity that fits my life?

2. Do I have feedback loops to pursue the effort? And Results?

3 .. Do I have systems that help me keep myself when life becomes chaotic?

If so … great! They are set up for success.

If not … don’t worry. Start with what you feel the weakest and support it first.

And if you want to help implement these strategies, it is now a good time to join nerd fitness coaching!
