An attacker in teen age killed two women with a knife in a shopping center in the Czech city of Hradec Kralove on Thursday before he was arrested shortly afterwards, the police said.
The police examined the motive for the attack in the city 110 km east of Prague.
“Although we were on site within a few minutes after the report, both victims suffered injuries that were so serious that, despite all the efforts of the responders, they could not be saved,” said the police in one position on X.
A police spokesman told the Novinky.cz Online news website The attack took place in a shop in the outdoor shopping center. The victims were employees in the shop.

The alleged male attacker, a 16-year-old Czech citizen, was detained less than a kilometer away 10 minutes after the incident, said the spokesman and added a knife with a blade that was about 20 centimeters long.
“The attacker’s motif is still unclear,” said the police to X. “However, there is nothing that indicates that this was a terrorist attack. The information we currently have that can still change indicate this, that the selection of the victims was accidental.
The police had initially said that the victims were wounded in the attack before they later reported that they had died of the injuries.
A paramedic who reacted to the scene told Novinky.cz that the resuscitation efforts took about 40 minutes.
