David Benavidez ‘fight against the former master of the WBA’ regular ‘light heavyweight, David Morrell, raised between 150,000 and 160,000 PPV purchases on PBC Prime video In the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
@Danrafael1 reports the PPV numbers for the Benavidez Morrell fight, which were surprisingly good for an event that cost $ 79.95. This is a strong price compared to the Riyadh season events sold. Benavidez was shaped by the severe blows of Morrell and was lucky that he had no significant cuts during the campaign.
It is unclear whether the success of the event was due to the ‘Mexican Monster’ Benavidez (30-0, 24 Kos) alone or a combination of the Cuban Morrell and a few of the undercard fights.
Benavidez defeated Morrell (11-1, 9 KOS) with a unanimous decision with 12 laps with the results 118-108, 115-111 and 115-111. It was a close struggle in reality, but Benavidez ‘body struck and his pressure was the differences.
If Benavidez can defeat the winner of February 22nd between the undisputed champion in heavyweight champion, Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol, his popularity will go through the roof. He doesn’t have to put Canelo Alvarez under pressure and sound obsessed by him.
There is a good chance that Betterbiev will be the one with which Benavidez is confronted for the four belts, and it will be interesting to see how he deals with his power. He will not enjoy the same success in the inside against Betlerbiev as against Morrell because he fights well nearby.
We still don’t know how soon Benavidez will get the chance to fight the belts. It may require that he absorbs a tuning when Betterbiev-Bivol combats a trilogy.
