A European Union delegation, accompanied by representatives from 13 countries and ONEE, visited the Sidi Allal Tazi liquid sanitation project, implemented thanks to a partnership between Morocco and several international donors. This project is part of the national water resources management strategy and aims to improve the living conditions of the local population.

The project, financed with 21.6 million dirhams, has a treatment capacity of 1,230 m³ of wastewater per day and serves more than 17,000 residents. It includes secondary treatment through aerated lagoons, ensuring sustainable and efficient wastewater management in the region.

During the visit, the EU ambassador and representatives of France and Germany underlined the importance of Moroccan-European cooperation in the fight against water scarcity and in adapting to climate change. This project reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to sustainable environmental solutions under the Green Partnership signed with the EU in 2022.

The Director General of ONEE recalled that this initiative is part of the National Liquid Sanitation Program (PNAM), which has already made it possible to offer this service to more than 2.7 million Moroccans. This visit marks a new stage in strengthening the synergies between Morocco and the EU for optimized management of water resources.
